Recently I was shopping online for bathing suits. I will need at least three for an upcoming trip. This is one of the worst times to buy in terms of pricing. I know this is a champagne problem but nonetheless a problem anyway. Right now three bathing suits could cost close to $500.00! I started looking around on websites to find the sale section. The only problem was that they didn’t have the style that I like on sale in my size. At this stage in my life, I prefer a more conservative suit. I have never really felt comfortable with my butt hanging out, even when I was younger. I have never really understood why anyone would want to walk around like that. Maybe to make sure they get an over tan? I think people have really taken it too far. I have always been a more retro type of girl.
Well the suits that were on sale had some butt coverage but not enough. Still I preferred to pay sale price rather than full price so I told myself I would order these and wear a sarong and then the only time I would be just in the suit would be in the water.
So I compromised and ordered. Well despite using Paypal that has my current address, I got a notification that they were being shipped to an old address. I sent them an email to update the shipping address. The next day I got a notification that they cancelled my order. Great! Now these suits could be sold out. But then I paused and realized that I really didn’t want those suits anyway and that I should wait and get what I really wanted.
Fast forward to two days later, I get an email that one of the more retro suits that I was looking at is on sale. Not a huge sale but a sale. I go on the site again and decide to check the bigger sale section. Not one but three swimdresses that I wanted are now on sale and they have my size, except for one. For the one that was not in my size, I thought I would just order a size up which was in stock.. I also had a code for free shipping but it wouldn’t work because I had just used it on the order that they cancelled. So once again I was annoyed that I would have to call them. As I was doing this over the phone, I thought let me check on that one suit that I was sizing up for. Could they have it in my size? Turns out that they did so now I was getting three suits that I really wanted for a quarter of the price!
So what’s the lesson here? It’s more than about swimsuits. Don’t settle! Whenever you settle, you miss out on something much better. If the universe wants you to have the right bathing suits then it also wants you to have the bigger things. Sometimes the bigger things are the smaller things but you get the point. Trust!
