Well, I think Tom Petty said it best when he sang “the waiting is the hardest part”. I think there is a wisdom in waiting and not settling for anything. When you settle, the energy of what you truly want is blocked or at least delayed.
One time I accepted an audition for a part I didn’t want because I was afraid to say no. As if there would be nothing after that. Well shortly after, I received a call for another audition for that same production for something I did want. Usually that would be a good thing but because it was a different person that sent me in for the first audition, I didn’t get to be seen for the second audition.
The first guy that I was with didn’t care about me. He wasn’t a bad guy or anything but he wasn’t available. At the time I was so happy to have someone that liked me even a little. I didn’t trust or believe that I could have more. Well needless to say, this relationship didn’t last and it took me my usual long time to get over it. About a year later, I met my first serious boyfriend who was wanted to give me a real relationship. It would have been so much better if my first time was with him. If only I had waited.
The picture above was taken after watching a sunset. Just when we thought it was done – the sky turned into the most magnificent colors I have ever seen. If we were rushing – we would have missed it.
It’s not easy to sit with your feelings and trust if the answer is to wait. How many things are missed when we don’t. Think of it like a test from the Universe. Will you really stick to your guns? The in between time is scary but it is the only way to get what you want. Hold on!
